O'Bagy had written a wall street journal op-ed that was cited by both Kerry and McCain in talks about possible intervention in Syria. Bagy's employer fired her for falsely representing that she had a Ph. D, but it seems more complicated than that.

So back to my question: if you fail to defend your dissertation, are you just booted out of the program? For instance, would Georgetown have given Ms. O'Bagy more time or another chance to properly defend her dissertation, if the situation warranted it.
