Where is healy pass

Descend to the sea at Adrigole and turn left in the direction of Glengariff. Climb upwards through the Caha pass. Freewheel to Bonane and carry on to Kenmare. Write a review. It is a very nice and scenic serpentine road that winds through the mountains at the west coast of Ireland. Well worth a visit. Views are great on both sides of the pass. It's difficult to drive around Beara and not want to take lots of panoramic shots. The weather on this zone is harsh and highly unpredictable and it does not take much time for the bright sun shine to change over to moderate to heavy fog. Caution required when traversing and the area is subject to fog and mist in the early morning and late evening.

The road winds through a desolate, otherworldly landscape, passing between two of the highest summits in the Caha mountain range. The road was created in during the famine years in order to help prevent starvation. I would love to get out to Egypt Lake and Pharoah Peaks one day! Was beautiful with all the latches!

Trail was a little muddy and pretty windy at the top. Would definitely recommend for fall! Great trail. Brought our two 11 lb pups and they did great. During larch season, it was perfect. The parking though is at the back of sunshine lot due to the construction, so it likely adds 2 km.

Go earlier if you want parking. We got there at and the little lot was just about full. Road parking extended way back. The only thing that felt hard about this hike was the distance. The walk in was peaceful and fun. Most of the elevation on the back little bit. I almost don't want people to find out how awesome the views of the larches are on this hike.

I've previously hiked the trail in the summer for the gorgeous wildflowers and agree with another review that it's a totally different but equally wonderful experience in the fall. Can we agree to keep this larch hike semi-secret? Construction work has closed the parking lot. There is a small parking lot for about 30 cars about m before the trail.

It is possible to park on the side of the road. The trail is moderate. It is 9 Km but it has a low incline. The view with the golden larches is the best I have seen compared to three other trails with larches. You practically see golden larches all around and on both sides of the pass with the background of mountains. Perfect larch hike! The walk through the forest was long but had a very gradual incline and after about 8km you'll get to the larches. The view from the pass was incredible and well worth it!

It was pretty chilly and windy once we were out of the forest so bring lots of layers. Also the upper parking lot was closed, which added about 2km to our hike. It's steady uphill and it could get a bit boring.

The view of all the larch trees were a lot better than what you would see at the Larch Valley. Hands down the the best fall trail!!! I couldn't believe my eyes, the view at the top is phenomenal. Incredible hike with larch season. Once it opens up it is jaw dropping views. This hike is totally worth the effort.

We did this hike within 6 hours ish, including a break at the top. Parking is limited as Sunshine parking lot is under construction. Parking further away adds an extra 1km or so to the trail head. All the larches are golden and weather was perfect this weekend! Stunning views, long but well-kept trail!

Took us about 7 hours, with a long break at the top. Absolutely stunning in the larch season!! A decent amount of elevation gain, so be prepped for a good time out in the mountains. Not too difficult though! When you get to views they are incredible with the mountains and the golden larches but there is a long way to go through trees to get there. The larches were spectacular as far as the eye could see today, September Stunning day.

It took my sister and me just under 6 hours, including lunch and the extra km tacked on the beginning and end by the parking lot construction at Sunshine.

I did Larch Valley last week and, aside from the Valley of the Ten Peaks in the background, I think that Healy Pass is head and shoulders above in terms of a larch hike. The trail is reasonably graded and not rocky or rooty so quite a pleasant climb up and reasonable descent. Get out there and get those larches!

If you like lakes, mountain vistas, glaciers and alpine meadows this is the 3 or 4 day backcountry trip for you. Dale was very accommodating, friendly and very inexpensive relate to other shuttle services - highly recommend. The weather was ideal with temps in low single digits and partly cloudy skies.
