I call the Okanagan Valley in beautiful British Columbia home now, along with my husband, cat and dog. We take road trips and explore mountain ranges almost every weekend. I will continue to tell not only weather stories, but all stories about life in Canada to the many Weather Network viewers and friends here and around the globe. Truly humbled. When I visited the Arctic a few years ago, it truly changed me as a person. It put life in the south into perspective.
The people I met there were so special. I learned what survival truly means in more ways than one. There are many challenges that come with living in the north though, a big one is the cost of living.

Whitall graduated and then moved away from her husband and three stepdaughters for a year to work at Global in Saskatchewan. A year later, she returned home to the Toronto area, landed a gig with Global there, then jumped at the chance to join the Weather Network.
When she began, Whittal was broadcasting weather forecasts. But, like many forms of media, the digital world beckoned. She writes and produces stories and videos for the website and app, including explaining the science behind why her new home, the Okanagan Valley, is perpetually grey from October to March. When she and Ross arrived in the North Okanagan in August, they were greeted with endless sunshine and blue skies through to Thanksgiving.
The decision to move west came about after the couple became empty nesters. In an interview, Jaclyn mentioned that she wishes to stay somewhere in the Mediterranean with her husband.
Whittal attended the University of Windsor and studied Musical Theatre before landing a gig at the Deerhurst Resort as a performer. She received her Certificate in Operational Meteorology in After studying Musical Theatre at the University of Windsor , Whittal spent a significant amount of her time pursuing her music career.
After dedicating years to her music and theatre career, Jaclyn decided around age 30 she was ready for a new challenge and ventured off into television and media. In October , Whittal joined Global TV and spent a little over one year working as a weather anchor. She was given the position on a permanent basis and renewed her contract for another ten months before leaving in July She moved to Oakville, Ontario, and took a job as the on-camera meteorologist for The Weather Network.
Jaclyn has spent close to a decade working for the network and specialized there in natural disasters and severe weather. She is also a storm chaser and appears on Amazon Prime as part of a show called Storm Hunters. When she is not working, Jaclyn loves to run, garden, and cook. She is also an avid biker and horse rider. She is a big fan of popular meteorologist Ginger Zee.
